What the faq is it to you? Surely you know that only Stereolab from England truly understand the gaseous nature of our planet, and have happily provided RP's theme song involuntarily since the show began in 1999. For the first couple of seasons, we used "International Colouring Contest" from their album Mars Audiac Quintet (1994). In 2001, Stereolab wowed us with a track on their freshly released Sound-Dust album called "Baby Lulu" which continues to be the whimsical tune with all the ooohs and ahhhs at the beginning of each RP episode. You can learn more about the wonderful Stereolab at their official website. They have a new album slated for a 2004 release.

You must be referring to the VRRRRR BRRRRR VRRRRR that shakes the teeth and rattles of skulls of listeners worldwide, over which we announce our website address. The noise comes from the coal mines of the moon, where orphaned kittens suffer ill health enduring shift work. That's all those poor kitties hear all day long. Sad isn't it? Belgium's Zuco 103 sampled this horrendous sound in their song "Morro Elétrico" on their fab album Tales of High Fever. For more on this fabulous Brazilian fusion project, check their official website.

Good question. For four seasons, Remote Planet enjoyed 60 minutes a week on CKCU. Well, remember the kittens in the coal mine? They have nothing to do with our answer to this faqqing question. With RP founder Chris Laursen taking on new responsibilities as CKCU's Program Director and Dan Enright's desire to start a new show dedicated to unsigned, independent Canadian singer-songwriters, the two writers wrestled in Jello. Dan won, and he now produces The Sound Society which airs from 4 to 4:30 p.m. before Remote Planet. The Sound Society's website includes MP3s and full episodes! And it follows Andrea Simms-Karps show All Folked Up quite nicely, preparing you all for the devastation that is Remote Planet. With half-an-hour comes a tighter format and more time to develop high-quality comedy and commentary for all.

Remote Planet only promotes safe faqqing. You can direct your questions to us at info@remoteplanet.ca, and we might even faq you back.
